A Little Fun

Advantech Flooring

It has been so hot this week. We got the entire sub floor on by Thursday and spent most afternoons at the lake cooling off. Jordan was away at camp so she missed the fun, but she is looking forward to coming home and working on the cabin. (Patrice)

Progress Finally!

We waited for almost 5 days for the block guys to show up and we finally had to find another contractor. The 3 man crew and one child (well this is a family project so how could we complain and he was a cutie too) showed up at 6:51 AM on Saturday morning. They worked a full 11 hours to complete the job and we were glad to be on our way up. (Patrice)

The concrete faired the weather well. When we got home from Nashville last Saturday, we removed the forms and found that the concrete had only washed out in some small areas but Baine patched that up pretty quick and we got the blocks ordered for the foundation. The blocks, sand, and mortar arrived Thursday but we are still waiting on the block layer. Hopefully, we will get it done by mid week.

Lots of visitors....

Last weekend we had a visit from PaPa, Nanny, EE and two of the ATL cousins. They all spent some time with us at the property and we all just enjoyed being outside.

The finishing touches.....

Jordan and I painted the shed with a natural exterior paint and we were all pleased with how it turned out. The three metal whiskey barrell hoops on the side wall came from the property. We are glad to have a project completed.

THE DOWN POUR......

THE FOOTER IS POURED!
Friday morning at about 11:30 am the concrete truck showed up to pour the footer. All hands were on deck to pull, screed and float the concrete. The driver was very knowledgeable and helped us amateurs out a great deal. Baine had done alot of reading on the subject (as you can see from the picture) but hands on experience is the best teacher. Five minutes after the truck left, it started pouring down rain and we were all running around trying to find tarps to cover our dimpled concrete. We are just praying that there is no run-off from under the forms...

The footer finally got finished and Baine and Jacob put the rebar inside the footer. I think we will sub out the footer next time. Notice the unique way Baine found to bend the rebar with our trailer. I am not sure who is happier about being finished, Jacob or Baine.

Cousin Callie came for a visit and Jeremiah went to Nashville (not alot of extra room in the RV, so we have to trade kids to get a visitor) We had a great time and loved having her visit and she was a hard worker too, note the concrete on her overalls and the very happy look on her face! We are looking forward to having cousin Nolan visit us soon, as well as the Atlanta cousins. They will all make for good cheap labor!
