Moving right along

We finally got the front gable end sheeted and all the sheeting on the roof. Progress will slow down a bit because we are running kids to and from school and sporting activities, but they tell us each morning what they would like to see finished when they return home from school..

SCHOOL DAYS

That's right. The kids started school on Thursday, July 27th. This is the first time ever that they have all been in school at one time. I think our homeschooling days are officially over at least until we decide to sail around the world or something crazy like that. (notice that our 13 year old is officially taller than the 15 year old and this drives her crazy)

SHEATHING IS ON

We finally finished sheathing the roof yesterday. Baine thought he was Spider Man, and Barry and Delores got to see him in action. Thanks Barry and Delores for everything......One day, when I have the time, I will tell you all the story.

Hilham Beach!

The boys created an oasis for Jordan on her day off from work. They created a beach with the left over sand from the blocks, filled the wash tub with water for an ocean and made her a special drink. Jeremiah even put on his special pookah shells to serve her. Living the life of a princess.

The Front Gable End is Framed

Really going up!

We started the rafters on Sunday and let me tell you that 20 feet in the air is scary when you are walking along the edge of the frame.

JORDAN'S PASSION

Jordan has been doing alot of singing lately. She sang at a picnic for a local family reunion and really raked in the tips.

THE OUTSIDE IS SHEETED

It took us about a day and a half to sheet the outside of the house. Thank God for the Cat, it was a life saver.

The beams were very heavy, but Baine had a plan and the three of us were able to get the 20 foot 2 X 12's with a 2 X 4 sandwiched in between on top of the ledger. Baine finished the beams with a timber oil and they turned out great.

Happy Birthday Jordan

We celebrated Jordan's 15th birthday on Thursday night, after she got off from work. (Her first job) The lady that owns the local store (her family has owned it since 1942) baked her a cake and gave her a Carrie Underwood CD and then we headed to the restaurant where she works and they baked her a cake. She has become the local celebrity around here. Her driver's permit is the next task...

FOUR WALLS

HELLO WALLS

Things are moving along quickly now. We received our first load of framing materials last Friday and we have been busy ever since. It is great to finally see a cabin forming. Notice the notches that Baine had to cut for the ledger, there were about 90 2 X 6's that he had to notch. It was very time consuming.
